Stop Thinking Like a Banker…Start Thinking Like a Maverick: Reshaping the Relevance of Banks through Unconventional Approaches
What the heck are Relevance Provocations? It’s our name for a nonstop series of provocative small group discussions and activities designed to help develop your maverick mind and generate new answers to the business challenges all retail banks face. Some issues up for grabs include:
- What makes for a superior customer experience in retail banking?
- How do we regain the trust of our customers and revitalize the banking relationship?
- How should retail banks be relevant in a future dominated by boomer retirement?
- Bank delivery channels in 2013: Where should banks invest?
- How can banks make their frontline staff a source of competitive advantage?
- What will it take to finally integrate small business banking with retail?
Forget about traditional conference presentations or panel discussions on supposed industry “best practices” that yield parity at best. Relevance Provocations’ facilitated group activities and dialogues force participants to consider business issues from the point of view of customers, employees and shareholders. You’ll debate “best principles” with your peers, and develop your own perspectives regarding more relevant directions for your bank.

Crafting Old Solutions to Address New Challenges
Chris Larsen, CEO & Co-Founder, Prosper,
Tom Brown, CEO, Second Curve Capital
Mavericks are successful because they apply logic and ideas that are not obvious to others. As just this kind of maverick, Chris Larsen will lead the final discussion of the day. Larsen launched Prosper in February 2006 as an open and transparent loan marketplace designed by and for the needs of consumers. By applying experiences gained in co-founding E-LOAN, Chris has taken a centuries-old concept and introduced it into 21st century financial services. By identifying and rethinking the needs of customers, Chris has repeatedly shown how ingenuity and non-traditional thinking yield successful results. To date, Prosper has grown to over 580,000 members that have been involved in loan transactions totaling over $117 million.
