Mobile banking adoption and usage are reaching new highs, with no signs of slowing down. To date, mobile banking functionality has primarily focused on the incremental “mobilizing” of online banking features. The coming wave of more transformational mobile banking innovations, such as mobile remote deposit capture and mobile photo bill payment, will likely accelerate adoption and broaden the range of mobile use cases. The move to mobile will dramatically raise the degree of mobile engagement, and change consumers’ expectations and requirements across all channels. As transactions and interactions increasingly migrate to the mobile channel, the role of the various institutional channels must evolve. In particular, what does the growth of mobile mean for the role of branches? This session will explore the move to mobile and include both up-to-date consumer research and case studies, exploring the impact of the mobile channel on the branch network. We will also highlight key distribution opportunities and threats in a mobile-centric, multi-channel environment.
- Gain a deeper knowledge of the role of mobile in a multi-channel distribution system
- Understand the impact of mobile on the branch network
- Explore the potential neutralization effect on branch network equity
- Hear about the possibility of mobile leveling the playing the field for competitors with limited branch networks
