CHICAGO, September 28, 2015 – BAI is pleased to announce the 2015 Emerging Leaders Scholarship recipients. BAI launched the scholarship program in July 2015 to further invest in the professional development of the next generation of leaders within the retail banking industry.

The BAI Emerging Leaders Scholarship opens the doors to the industry’s premier event, BAI Retail Delivery 2015, for a one-of-a kind development and networking opportunity. The scholarship provides a platform for emerging talent to personally connect with thought leaders through invitation-only networking events and educational summits. The event as a whole, and now with the added scholarship program, aims to empower financial services professionals with the right tools and actionable insights needed to make smart business decisions and move the industry forward. The scholarship also includes three nights of accommodations at The Venetian | The Palazzo Congress Center in Las Vegas.

“Congratulations to the winners of our inaugural emerging leaders scholarship. You are on your way to building a successful career in financial services and driving positive change in the industry.” said Holly Hughes, Chief Marketing Officer, BAI.

Winners of the 2015 BAI Emerging Leaders Scholarship are:

Ashley Bowman (Ephrata National Bank)
“The moment we stop learning, we stop growing,” says Ashely Bowman, Training Director at Ephrata National Bank. Bowman began her career in 2008 as a parttime teller while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education. By continually seeking educational resources and opportunities, Bowman hopes to inspire others to invest in professional growth.

Spencer Fairbanks (Arvest Bank)
As the IT business relationship manager for Arvest Bank Operations, Spencer Fairbanks touches multiple facets of the retail banking industry including information security, network security, compliance, legal and vendor management. Fairbanks wants to find more proactive strategies to address the rapidly changing data security threats and increasing regulations.

“Spencer’s technical background and retail banking experience already makes him a well-rounded associate and an asset to our organization,” says Tina Pomeroy, IT Manager of Business Relationships at Arvest. “He possesses natural leadership qualities that not only benefit our organization but retail banking as an industry.”

Rayon Pinnock (National Commercial Bank Jamaica, LTD)
Rayon Pinnock, Business Development Representative for National Commercial Bank, will travel from Kingston, Jamaica to attend BAI Retail Delivery 2015. An industry professional with seven years of experience, Pinnock believes “lack of innovation and complacency are detrimental” to the industry. In the future, Pinnock sees himself advancing in leadership roles and providing professional development opportunities for his peers.

Shawn Wheeler (Fifth Third Bank)
Shawn Wheeler, Vice President, and Senior Product Manager at Fifth Third Bank, has a true drive to understand the latest banking technologies and innovative advancements within the industry. Wheeler’s career and achievements have grown during his time with Fifth Third Bank, and he continues to take on challenging roles to support organizational efforts.

“Shawn has a varied and well rounded background in financial services and is seen as a top performer with great potential within our organization,” says Jill Frondorf, Vice President, and Senior Product Manager. “He is an expert at developing and coaching teams that deliver on their sales and service commitments.”

With over 3,000 of the most influential financial services leaders, strategists and visionaries from around the globe, the educational opportunities are unparalleled at BAI Retail Delivery 2015. The Conference & Expo, slated for October 13-15, provides an unmatched speaker lineup that will feature top strategists and from inside and outside the financial services industry, including Barbara Corcoran and Robert Herjavec from ABC’s hit show Shark Tank, Joseph Tripodi, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Coca Cola Company (2007 – 2015), Innovation and Social Change Expert and Best Selling Author, Andrew Zolli, and Best-selling Author and Generation Expert, Cam Marston.
