JB Straubel is part of the founding team and the Chief Technical Officer of Tesla Inc. in Palo Alto, Calif. At Tesla, Straubel oversees the technical and engineering design of the vehicles. He also has responsibility for new technology evaluation, R&D, technical diligence review of key vendors and partners, IP, and systems validation testing. In addition to his work at Tesla, Straubel is also on the board of directors for Solar City, and is a
lecturer at his alma mater, Stanford University, where he teaches the popular Energy Storage Integration
class in the Atmosphere and Energy Program. He has had a long personal passion for electric vehicles, including building an Electric Porsche 944 that held a world EV racing record, a Custom Electric Bicycle, and a pioneering new Hybrid Trailer System that he designed while in college. Straubel is also an
accomplished pilot and holds private pilot, instrument and multi-engine ratings.

Dr. Andreas Weigend is an expert on big data, consumer behavior and social-mobile technologies, the combination of which he calls the Social Data Revolution. As the former Chief Scientist at Amazon, he helped create the company’s data strategy and culture of innovation. He is the author of Data for the People and the founder of the Social Data Lab, a group of thought leaders and data scientists. Recent clients include Alibaba, BMW, Deutsche Telekom, GE, Hyatt, Lufthansa, MasterCard, Tencent and the World Economic Forum. He has brought several award-winning products to market, including SketchBook Pro, now used by over 40 million creative designers, illustrators and hobbyists, as well as Maya, visual effects technology which won an Academy Award for its contribution to the film industry. As a recognized global thought leader, Tom studies collaborative creativity, wicked problem-solving and the impact of emerging technologies on how we design and make things. He organizes and hosts forward-thinking events, including Autodesk IDEAS, Innovation Forums and TED IDEAS Cage Matches. He is the author and editor of five books, a passionate advocate of graphic facilitation and design exercises, and has served as an adjunct professor at Singularity University.
